De 2015 à 2022, en partenariat avec le Cite, Enea Consulting et l'Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), le Gret a mis en œuvre le projet Rhyvière II à Madagascar, qui a permis à au moins 50 000 personnes réparties dans 8 communes de bénéficier d’un accès à l’électricité, grâce à la construction de centrales hydroélectriques et la mise en place de solutions électriques décentralisées adaptées aux villages éloignés du réseau.


Tout au long du projet, le Gret a mené des études qui ont impliqué la création de donnés géographiques sur les deux zones bénéficiaires du projet, autour des communes de Bealanana (province de Majunga, dans le nord de Madagascar) et de Sahatona (partie nord-est de la région de la Haute Matsiatra).


Le Gret s'est associé aux Libres Géographes pour valoriser ces données, qui a porté sur les actions suivantes :

- intégration des données historiques du projet au sein d'une base PostGIS

- création de flux OGC et de styles dans GeoServer et de métadonnées dans GeoNetwork pour chaque couche de données

- cartographie OpenStreetMap sur les zones de Bealanana et Sahatona et mise en place de couches géographiques thématiques actualisées quotidiennement via imposm

- création de cartes MapStore pour chacune des deux zones, intégrant toutes les données géographiques thématiques


Ces actions ont été menées avec des membres de la communauté OpenStreetMap Madagascar et ont fait l'objet de séances de formation destinées à rendre autonomes les membres de l'équipe du Gret de Madagascar sur l'usage de ces techniques et produits.

From 2015 to 2022, in partnership with Cite, Enea Consulting and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), GRET implemented the Rhyvière II project in Madagascar, which enabled at least 50,000 people in 8 communes to benefit from access to electricity, thanks to the construction of hydroelectric power plants and the implementation of decentralized electricity solutions adapted to villages far from the grid.


Throughout the project, GRET carried out studies that involved the creation of geographical data on the two areas benefiting from the project, around the communes of Bealanana (Majunga province, northern Madagascar) and Sahatona (northeastern part of the Haute Matsiatra region).


GRET partnered with Les Libres Géographes to enhance the value of these data, with the following actions:

- integration of the project's historical data into a PostGIS database

- creation of OGC flows and styles in GeoServer and metadata in GeoNetwork for each data layer

- OpenStreetMap mapping of the Bealanana and Sahatona areas and creation of thematic geographic layers updated daily via imposm

- creation of MapStore maps for each of the two zones, integrating all thematic geographic data.


These actions were carried out with members of the OpenStreetMap Madagascar community, and were the subject of training sessions designed to empower GRET Madagascar team members in the use of these techniques and products.
